Kangaroo Island has four species of possums - the most common being the Kangaroo Island sub-species of the Common brush-tailed possum. Others are the Common ring-tailed possum and two tiny pygmy possums. Of these the Western pygmy possum is more common than the Little pygmy possum and as the entire group of possums are nocturnal, sightings in daylight are rare and the pygmy possums very rare indeed. As a result photographic opportuities are quite limited as reflected in the small collection presented here.
